Choose by usable compartment space and attachment—not by a “universal fit” label.

Updated October 25, 2026. This is a researched comparison of manufacturer references and earlier CCS observations, not a new hands-on test of every bag. Some legacy retailer listings could not be matched to a current manufacturer model; those limits are identified below. Prices, colors and availability can change.

A carry purse is not secure firearm storage. Zipper locks, hidden compartments and reinforced straps do not make a bag childproof or theft-proof. If you cannot keep the bag under direct control, use appropriate secure storage inaccessible to children and unauthorized users.

1. Browning Addison: Structured Faux-Leather Satchel

The Browning Addison Black is a different-model alternative to the unavailable Alexandria listing. It uses PU faux leather, rounded handles and a removable adjustable shoulder strap. Its linked Black Amazon offer showed Add to cart on October 25, 2026, sold and shipped by Amazon.com.

Browning’s Amazon listing specifies a 14 L × 12.5 H × 6.5 W-inch body, two main sections, a zippered middle compartment and interior slip pockets. The separate compartment is listed as 11 L × 7 H inches with access from either side; an adjustable holster and two keys are included. These listing specifications replace the Alexandria figures and are not CCS measurements.

The tradeoff: Addison is a structured satchel, not the same shoulder bag or compartment shape as Alexandria. Compare the complete holstered setup with the opening and usable compartment before ordering. CCS has not newly tested fit or retention, and locking zippers do not make a handbag secure unattended storage.

2. Browning Catrina: Slim Faux-Leather Crossbody

The Catrina B0000122 is the slimmer Browning crossbody reference. SPG lists a removable adjustable strap, locking zippers, a holster and access from either side.

The tradeoff: its compartment has different proportions from the Addison’s. Compare the pocket and strap figures below with your complete holstered setup and preferred bag position.

3. Roma Leathers: Cowhide Tote Reference

Roma’s 7008-R Dual Zipper Moto Leather Concealment Tote is the manufacturer reference used here. It lists cowhide construction, a divided main compartment, a removable hook-and-loop holster and a rear compartment accessible from either side through lockable YKK zippers. Confirm that the selected retailer item is this model rather than another Roma design.

The earlier CCS article called the Roma bag a household favorite. That personal preference is retained as historical context; the original sample identity, wear duration and test records are unavailable. We are not claiming fresh durability or concealment testing.

The tradeoff: the 13-inch tote format provides organization space but is less compact than a small crossbody. Covered zippers do not guarantee that other people cannot identify a carry bag, and the zipper locks do not replace secure firearm storage.

4. Bulldog Satchel: Two Main Compartments

Bulldog’s standard Satchel family lists two separate zippered main compartments with internal organization and overall dimensions of 16 × 9.5 × 5.5 inches. Its current page distinguishes color SKUs BDP-020, 021, 024, 026 and 028. Other Bulldog bags also use “satchel” in their names, so the SKU matters.

The matching included holster is described by Bulldog as a universal design for many small pistols and revolvers. That statement does not establish a specific firearm’s retention or trigger protection. The product page reviewed does not provide a usable firearm-compartment measurement, so we are not inferring one from the outside dimensions.

The tradeoff: compare this divided layout with the Tote’s single large main compartment below. Neither the included holster nor an older “fast shipping” badge establishes fit, current delivery timing or long-term durability.

5. Jessie & James Bella: Top-Handle Tote

The Bella SMC31188LK is a close style alternative to the previously listed Bulldog tote. It has dual top handles, a detachable adjustable shoulder strap, a zippered main opening and a separate rear compartment with a removable holster. The linked Black Amazon variation showed Add to cart when checked October 25, 2026.

Jessie & James lists a faux-leather exterior, a 13 W × 10.3 H × 5.3 D-inch body and a 9 W × 7.25 H-inch concealed compartment. Its single rear opening favors right-hand access. Amazon lists different overall dimensions, so confirm the selected variation with the seller before ordering.

The tradeoff: this is smaller than the former 17-inch-wide Bulldog tote. Choose it for the top-handle layout and optional shoulder strap, rather than identical capacity. Verify the complete holstered fit and attachment; a lockable zipper does not make the bag secure unattended storage.

6. Jessie & James Dakota: Faux-Leather Hobo

The Jessie & James Dakota in Black W/ Cow replaces the unavailable legacy large hobo listing. It is a different product with a named brand, a top-handle hobo layout and a detachable adjustable shoulder strap. The linked Amazon variation showed Add to cart when checked October 25, 2026, sold by Deluxity Innovations and shipped by Amazon.

The brand’s Amazon listing describes PU faux leather, an approximately 13 W × 12 H × 5.5 D-inch body, a divided main compartment, an interior zipper pocket and two slip pockets. It lists an 11.5 W × 7.5 H-inch rear compartment with dual zipper access and an included hook-and-loop holster. These are published listing figures, not CCS measurements.

The tradeoff: this keeps the roomy hobo format, but it is not an identical replacement for the old bag. Confirm the usable opening, complete holstered fit and secure attachment before use. The included holster and locking zippers do not establish universal fit or secure unattended storage; CCS has not newly tested this model.

7. Jessie & James Brooklyn: Compact Crossbody

The Brooklyn AMC5806L replaces the unavailable Travelon Slim Bag as a compact crossbody option. Its Black Amazon variation showed Add to cart when checked October 25, 2026. This is a different faux-leather bag, so the Travelon’s material and anti-theft claims do not carry over.

Jessie & James lists a 10.5 W × 9.5 H × 3.5 D-inch body, an adjustable strap and a removable holster. The separate side-opening compartment measures 8 W × 6.5 H inches and favors right-hand access. Compare those published dimensions with the complete holstered setup; the smaller pocket is the main limit.

The tradeoff: this offers a compact shoulder or crossbody layout rather than the larger tote format. Check access from your preferred side, holster attachment and actual usable space. A lockable zipper and RFID label do not establish firearm security or make a bag theft-proof.

8. Jessie & James Dina: Large Faux-Leather Satchel

The current Jessie & James Dina AMC23303L reference is a faux-leather satchel with handles, an adjustable detachable strap and a rear compartment accessible from both sides. A removable holster and lock-and-key feature are included.

The dimensions table uses current manufacturer figures, which differ from the old guide. Confirm the exact retailer variation. The tradeoff: the larger format adds bulk to keep under your control. Check the holster attachment and trigger coverage separately; an outside decorative lock is not evidence of firearm security.

9. Gun Tote’n Mamas GTM-10: Compact Lambskin Crossbody

The manufacturer reference is the GTM-10 Embroidered Lambskin Clutch. The old guide confused its embroidered lambskin with another family’s debossed cowhide. GTM lists a Mernickle-designed holster, hook-and-loop anchoring, access for either hand and a three-sided zipper.

The tradeoff: check both the compartment and smaller footprint below, plus strap drop. GTM describes the steel-cable-reinforced strap as slash-resistant; this does not make the bag theft-proof. Confirm the legacy retailer item matches GTM-10.

10. Generic Hobo With Detachable Holster: Evidence Incomplete

The exact manufacturer, model and independent test record for this legacy listing remain unverified. The old guide’s anti-shock, wear-test and universal-fit assurances lacked a supporting test report; we have removed them.

Our recommendation: do not choose it on the basis of the old “budget” award or a magnetic-button description. Require a current model identity, separate compartment measurements, complete trigger coverage and a secure holster attachment before considering this design.

These are published manufacturer reference figures or explicitly labeled brand Amazon listing figures, not CCS measurements of the exact variations. Dimensions are in inches. A listed compartment is only a starting point: zipper openings, seams and the holster can reduce usable space.

CrossBreed Purse Defender: A Bag Insert, Not a Purse

This package includes an L-shaped panel and a firearm-specific modular holster; no purse is included. CrossBreed lists a 9 × 6-inch assembly with a 3-inch base. Verify your firearm and accessories in its selector.

It does not fit every bag. CrossBreed’s Q&A says the panel does not attach to the purse. The holster-to-panel connection therefore does not establish that the panel stays secured in your bag. The page advertises a two-week trial and lifetime warranty, subject to terms; check the seller’s conditions.

We The People Belly Band: On-Body Alternative

If keeping control of a purse throughout the day is impractical, compare an on-body option instead. We The People’s belly band uses elastic and neoprene with a snap closure and removable pouches. The manufacturer states that it is not compatible with pistol-mounted weapon lights.

Check measured belly size, draw hand, exact firearm fit, retention and complete trigger protection. We are not treating breathability or a broad size claim as proof of all-day comfort, exercise suitability or long-term durability. Our belly-band comparison covers more design differences.

What to Look For in a Concealed Carry Purse

Buying check	What matters
Separate compartment	Keep the firearm and its holster separate from keys, makeup, phones and other objects. A divided main compartment is not necessarily a dedicated firearm pocket.
Trigger protection	The holster must protect the trigger completely. Fabric, a padded bag wall or a zipper alone does not establish sufficient protection.
Secure attachment and fit	Check the firearm-to-holster fit and the holster-to-bag connection. A removable holster must stay secured; an insert must not simply slide around.
Usable dimensions	Compare the complete holstered setup with the compartment, opening and attachment area. Include any optic or light; do not use exterior bag size as proof.
Strap and carried weight	Check strap drop, adjustability, hardware and comfort with your everyday load. Inspect stitching, zippers and attachment points regularly.
Returns and model identity	Match the product model, material and included holster to the exact order. Read return conditions before removing tags or using the bag.

Tips for Using a Concealed Carry Purse

Off-body carry adds the risk that the bag can be set down, lost, taken or accessed by someone else. A crossbody strap can help keep it with you, but no strap or lock removes that responsibility. If your routine means handing the bag to someone else or leaving it unattended, reconsider whether purse carry suits that routine.

• Keep the bag under direct control, including at home. Do not rely on placing it high up, hiding it or fastening its zipper as a substitute for secure storage.
• Use only the designated compartment for the firearm and its properly fitted holster. Keep other objects out of that compartment.
• Follow the bag, holster and firearm manufacturers’ instructions. Do not deliberately leave closures partly open to chase faster access.
• Conduct fit checks with the firearm unloaded, following its manual, in an appropriate location without live ammunition in the checking area. Seek qualified instruction if fit or safe handling is uncertain.
• When the firearm is not in use, store it unloaded in appropriate locked storage inaccessible to unauthorized users, with ammunition stored separately.

Start with the compartment and secure holster attachment, then choose the shape and strap you will actually use. The Catrina, Dina and GTM-10 offer distinct starting points for slim, large-satchel and compact-leather preferences.
