The Springfield Hellcat is a great choice for concealed carry and deserves the best holster that you can find. With so many holster companies around now, it can be hard to find one that works best for you and your concealed carry needs.
In this article, not only will we cover the best holster options for the Hellcat, but also go over what you need to look for when you go shopping for your holster. We hope to save you time and money, and get you carrying your new firearm.
Best Holsters For The Hellcat
In this list we will provide holsters for different budgets, as well as different types of carry. Not everyone is looking for the same type of holster, so we make sure to provide you many options. Its up to you to decide which option suits your needs.
1. Tulster Profile Holster
Save 15% at Tulster.com with Code: CCS
The Tulster Profile holster is our go to holster for most guns. It provides extremely high quality, durability, and functionality for a pretty reasonable price.
While you will find a couple of other Tulster holsters on this list, the reason this one is at the top is the versatility in which it can be carried. You can carry this holster at about any position in the waistband, and carry comfortably.
The Tulster Oath and Tulster Contour are more specialized holsters for carry positions. This holster allows you to change up your carry position and adjust the cant of the holster. If you are going to be carrying behind the hip at all, this is the Tulster holster for you. However, this holster is also capable of being carried at the hip and appendix positions as well.
The one thing to keep an eye out for though is if you plan on carrying with an optic. Many Hellcat owners like the option to carry with a red dot. If you want a holster that allows a red dot, then the other two Tulster options will be better.
2. Tulster Oath Holster
Save 15% at Tulster.com with Code: CCS
Just like the Profile holster listed above, the Tulster Oath offers the same great quality, durability, and function. The Oath does come in at about $10 more than the Profile option, but it does offer a few things that the previous version does not.
First, the Oath allows you to carry with an optic attached to your Hellcat. The use of red dots on carry pistols are constantly growing. If you are one of these growing numbers of people, then the Oath may be for you.
Second, the Oath is ambidextrous. It allows you to switch which side your clip is located on the holster and carry right or left handed.
Third, it offers a mod wing and is built for appendix carry. While the Profile holster can be used for appendix carry, this holster is perfect for it. The added wing also forces the holster to remain close to the body to help make it more concealable.
3. Tulster Contour Holster (OWB)
Save 15% at Tulster.com with Code: CCS
The last of our choices from Tulster is the Tulster Contour. We understand this holster will not be for everyone, as it is an outside the waistband holster. However, the way this holster is designed allows it to also be carried concealed if you dress appropriately.
This OWB holster keeps your Hellcat riding high and up against the body…just what you want from a concealable OWB holster. Just run your concealed carry belt through the loops and you are good to go.
Just like the Oath, the Tulster Contour allows you to carry with an optic if you choose, as well as allowing you to adjust the retention of the holster. We love Tulster and have at least one for each of our pistols. Just don’t forget to use our coupon code to save money on your purchase.
4. We The People Holster
Save 15% at WeThePeopleHolsters.com with Code: CCS15
Very similar to the Tulster Profile holster listed above, the We The People holsters come very versatile. You can carry with them at about any IWB position safely and comfortably.
While the We The People holsters and Tulster holsters are both very affordable, this option comes with a little lower price tag. You can still plan on carrying safe and effectively with these holsters, even with the lower price.
While I personally prefer the Tulster, many of my friends go with We The People due to the variety of prints available. You can get a variety of colors, patterns, and designs that can make your holster unique.
Even though these holsters are already at a low price, you can also use our promo code CCS15 to save an additional 15% on the holster of your choice.
5. Relentless Tactical Defender Leather Holster
For those concealed carriers out there that prefer a quality leather holster, the Relentless Tactical Defender holster may be just what you are looking for to carry your Hellcat.
The one thing you want to look for in a leather holster is that it is stiff and durable. You don’t want the leather to bend and get caught in the trigger guard. Relentless Tactical has designed this holster with that in mind and provides a quality leather holster at an affordable price.
This holster comes in three colors…Charred Oak, Midnight Black, and my favorite Whiskey Barrel Brown. It also comes with a sturdy metal clip to keep it firmly in place inside your waistband.
6. Crossbreed MiniTuck Holster
Save 15% at CrossBreedHolsters.com with Code: CCS15
For the concealed carriers who prefer to carry behind the hip, the Crossbreed MiniTuck is a great option to carry comfortably. Crossbreed mixes leather and kydex to create a high functioning and comfortable holster.
The thing I like about these types of holsters is that the clips are spread apart and that helps to keep the weight of the gun distributed more evenly across the belt..and providing less sagging of your pants.
Crossbreed provides a great variety of holsters and this MiniTuck along with the SuperTuck allow you to tuck in your shirt while carrying. This is perfect for those of you who need to dress up a bit for work, church, or socializing.
7. Desantis Nemesis Pocket Holster
While many experts advise against carrying in your pocket, many people find this the best option in the summer. If you pocket carry, make sure you train for pocket carry as well. You can also check out our Guide to Pocket Carry.
The DeSantis Nemesis is a great pocket holster for a few reasons.
Trigger Guard Covered: This is important with any holster, especially for pocket holsters.
Stays In The Pocket: When you draw your gun, you want only the gun to come out. This holster comes with a sticky outside, and an extension wing that keeps the holster where it should stay.
Affordable: This holster is very inexpensive.
If you are going to pocket carry, or think you may need to in the future, pick up one of these and have it just in case. The price allows you to make it a “backup holster”.
8. ComfortTac Ultimate Belly Band Holster
The ComfortTac Ultimate Belly Band Holster is perfect for those looking to carry with a belly band. Whether you are choosing a belly band for jogging, comfort, or to work with your outfit…the holster provides it all.
Two features of this belly band stand out to me.
Hard Trigger Guard: You need to keep your trigger guard protected with a striker fired pistol like the Hellcat. This holster does that.
Extra Magazine Pouch: Having the ability to carry an extra magazine is huge for many concealed carriers. You can carry both magazines that come with your Springfield Hellcat.
One last note to this holster is that it can fit up to a 54″ belly. So, if you are like many Americans and you are wanting to go Jogging to get rid of some extra belly fat, this may be the holster for you.
9. Universal Purse Holder Insert
One of the fastest growing groups of concealed carriers are women. This purse insert allows you to turn your purse into a concealed carry purse.
It is important to never leave your purse away from your body when carrying a firearm. However, if you are fine with keeping your purse in your possession for the day, this may be an option for you.
We also have a great article covering the best concealed carry purses as well. Be sure to give it a read and see if a purse built for concealed carry might be a better fit for you.
10. Vertx Tactigami Holster
- Hook and Loop closure
- 10.5" high and 8" wide to fit mid to full sized handguns with or without a weapon light
- Designed to wrap around your firearm for a completely customized fit.
The Vertx Tactigami holster is designed to be used with hook and loop (velcro) attachment. While it works perfect with our preferred concealed carry backpack the Vertx Gamut 2.0, it also works with many other concealed carry backpacks.
This holster fits the Springfield Hellcat perfectly and keeps it firmly attached to hook and loop inside a backpack/purse/sling bag.
Carrying off body is tricky. And while most experts recommend to avoid it, many choose to carry this way, or to carry a backup firearm this way.
If you are interested in utilizing the Vertx Tactigami holster, be sure to check out our article on the Best Concealed Carry Backpacks to learn more about that method of carry.
Springfield Hellcat Holster Buyer’s Guide
The Springfield Hellcat is made to be a concealed carry firearm. And it does it wonderfully. When it comes to a concealed carry firearm, you are going to want certain things from your holsters. Below I will cover a few things you want to look for when shopping for your Hellcat holster.
Concealed carry holsters should be just that…concealable. When looking for your holster be sure that there is minimal material used that is needed. Any extra kydex or leather will just be added weight and get in the way.
Getting a holster with a wing also allows you to keep the firearm up tight against the body which helps prevent printing. Wings are often found on appendix carry holsters, but can also be found on others.
If you are going to carry OWB and plan on keeping it concealed then you will also need to make sure that your holster keeps the firearm up close to the body and up high on the hip. You will still need to plan your outfits a bit more than you would with an IWB holster, but it can work.
Safe and Functional
Safety is always first when carrying a firearm. Having a holster that helps is required. While most holsters are safe, there are some things you want to avoid in a holster.
Avoid holsters that have flimsy material that could get caught in the finger guard. This can happen when you reholster your firearm. Kydex helps avoid this, but if you plan on using a leather holster, be sure it is a high quality stiff leather. It would be a good idea to check it every now and then as well, just to be sure it is holding up.
While some holsters can be carried at many different positions and methods, you will need to make sure that the holster you choose for your Hellcat will work for your carry type.
If you are going to carry appendix you will need a holster that works with that carry type. Same with OWB, Purse Carry, and all other carry types. We did our best in our list above to offer holsters that fit many carry types and for many budgets.
If you are like many gun owners, you have a bunch of holsters that are not being used. To avoid this make sure you get holsters that are versatile and work with your preferred carry position.
